Family Picture Time... Again

I had my friend Jordan come over on Sunday and take some family pictures for us. We are really bad at getting pictures taken. Can you believe I've never had a professional picture taken of our family? Or even of Boo? I'm such a bad mom. Oh well. Here are a few of the funny pictures from our little photo session.
Needless to say, we kept Jordan laughing. These next ones are all cropped. I just could resist including all the funny faces made!

This was my favorite funny face! She's such a character.
And with muscles like these around the house, who needs a guard dog?!
You just have to wait for your New Years letter for the final picture. I may not have everyone on my list, so if you want me to send you one, leave a comment!

A Visit with Santa

We had our ward Christmas party last week. Boo could hardly wait all day to go to a party! She was also very excited because any time she gets to see her best friend Olivia is a good day. The girls not being very behaved during dinner.
Waiting in line to see Santa.
She was a champ, no hesitation at all getting on Santa's lap.
She got a little goodie bag that she couldn't wait to get home and open. I wasn't watching her close enough and she ate most of the candy from the bag that night. Ooops! No wonder she had a hard time going to bed that night!

She told Santa she had been good this year, but I wasn't clear on what she wanted for Christmas. She has had a couple of funny answers for that question lately. Once she said "nothing". Score! A couple of times she has said she wants a camera, but the answer frequently changes. She is the kind of kid that will be happy with just about anything she gets. It makes my job as the mom very easy to shop for her!

Christmas Light Madness

You as my reader know that I hate saying that I think I have the greatest husband in the world, right? Well, I throw the rules out today by saying that I think my hubby is pretty great. I say this because every year at Christmas he succumbs to my craziness and puts up Christmas lights for me. He hates this, I know he does. He has to get on the roof, deal with my perfectionism, while working with stings of dumb lights.
I love Christmas lights. I would be one of those houses that is just covered in lights, but alas my husband says no.
So again, posting late, we put up light a couple weeks ago. Boo was very excited at the idea she was going to help put up lights. She was rather disappointed when we told her she couldn't get on the roof, and everytime she tried to climb the ladder to help out, she would make it to the top and Bo would tell her to climb down because it was time to move the ladder. Finally she gave up and played with chalk and dug in the front yard.
Here is final product, nothing spectacular, but I love driving to my house at night and seeing my lights up.
Now, if you could see the two houses on both sides of us, they really go the distance. We look kind of meek compared to them.

Christmas Decorating

I've been a bit behind on posting. We decorated for Christmas the first of December and I just haven't had time to post pictures. Boo really enjoyed putting up the Christmas tree. She helped last year, but this year was more exciting for her.
Here is her corner of the tree. She decorated it very carefully.
One of my favorite things to play with as a child was a wooden nativity set that my parents had. I don't know where they got it, my dad probably made it, but it was always my favorite thing to set up. A year or two ago my parents gave us a set just like them that my dad had made. Boo is enjoying playing with them, mostly she likes to switch around who hold what, and it's interesting to see who is hold the baby Jesus in the end.
More than anything she is really excited to open presents. I wrapped most of them the other night and she woke up to a tree full of presents. She wanted to open them right then. I told her she had to wait until Grandma & Grandpa got to our house. So Mom & Dad, she's waiting. Patiently... well, mostly.
Is there such a things as a spoon that is "too big" when you are eating cereal?

She sure doesn't think so.

That's quite the chocolate milk mustache she has!

Super Mexican to the Rescue!

In order to go out and help her daddy rake leaves, Boo was required to put on a hat to keep her ears warm. She has such a big noggin that beanies sold for children don't fit her. Bo suggested that I just use one of his. She got a kick out of wearing daddy's hat (he got this hat while he was on his mission, it's one of his favorites).
*Unfortunately, she was too close to the camera and the picture turned out funny. Still cute though.

Holy crack! Cheek that out!

Boo seems to have a problem. It's a problem that lots of people in the world suffer from. Mostly plumbers, some teenage girls, and a great population of old men who have yet to discover suspenders.
Her buns just don't hold her pants up and she is frequently showing her crack to the world.

Addicted to the Camera

The other day I was trying to use the timer on my camera to get a good pregnant belly shot, which didn't turn out, but Boo saw that I was playing with the camera and she wanted to take a picture. Here are her poses for the camera. What a poser!

Riddle of the Day

What do you get when you have a daddy with a melted KitKat in his lunch box and a curious 3-year old?

A pantless, chocolate-faced kissing monster! Anyone want a kiss?

Just Hangin' Out

Is there a better thing in the world then tackling your daddy and holding him down until he says "uncle"?
I think not.
I've got a marathon posting going on today. I have quite a few things set to post. Check back every hour on the 30 to see what's new!

It's Going to be One of Those Days...

Have you ever had a day where your spouse comes home and asks "How was your day Honey?" and you simply reply with a statement or list of things that went wrong, never really answering the question with a good or bad?

Yesterday was one of those days.

To preface my story of my bad day, I should tell you that I've washed a lot of things in my life. By this I mean washed by mistake. Ya know, the things that sneak into the washer and you don't find them until you are moving clothes in the the dryer or even after they get dried. I know people frequently wash change, but my list goes way beyond that. I mean, who can say they've washed a roll of electrical tape? (...any Lineman's wife probably) I've washed pens, paper, crayons (a red one, which actually made it into the dryer and ruined all the clothes dried with it), money, rocks (another staple wash item for a Lineman's wife), dirt, and many other interesting things.

But today I just threw all rules out the window and washed something I hope never to wash again.

I'm usually really good about sorting through Boo's clothes before I wash them because I stain treat most of her shirts to get the spots off them. But somehow this nasty little item snuck by me and jumped in the washer.

It was an unusually full load of clothes. I had needed to do laundry for a couple days, but just kept putting off. To this end, I take full responsibility. My confession, I hate laundry. I like clean clothes, I just hate getting them there. It's not so much the washing and drying as it is the folding and putting away. I can wash all day long, but usually those loads I do sit in baskets for a couples days before they are returned, folded, to their rightful home. Bo hates this.

When we lived in the apartment in the valley we lived in for a month we had one of those stackable washer/dryers and that was the greatest! Granted we didn't have a child, so we had less laundry, but they did smaller loads, faster, so I could quickly fold and put away a load of laundry. Those were the days... But it's just not feasible to have a small washer now.

So I filled the washer with clothes, stain treated the shirts that had stains, started the water, added soap and closed the lid, thinking nothing of the future. The wash cycle on our washer takes probably 45 minutes, in that time, I usually find something else to do, and generally forget about the laundry. As I finished up my other projects, I noticed that it's quiet, which signifies that the laundry is washed and ready to be switched into the dryer. I go into the laundry room, and like a robot, start to move clothes handful by handful into the dryer.

Wait. Somethings wrong.

These clothes felt funny. Not thinking to investigate, I keep throwing clothes in. After 3 or 4 handfuls, I pull it out. It!

Never before in my life have I washed a pull-up. Nor a diaper. Mostly not the diapers because I was in charge of making sure they found their way into the garbage. But since I have such a helpful helper, she usually takes care of taking her pull-ups to the garbage, wet or dry.

This is the point where I would usually get mad, and yell, and just be mad until Bo usually calms me down. Crap. He's at work. So, take a deep breath and deal with it, I tell myself. First clean the clothes out of the dryer and all the mess that was on them. Do you know what happens when you wash a pull-up or diaper? It does it's job of sucking up water. Then, it gets too full and moves on to disintegrating. The pull-up for the most part was still intact, but the insides that soak up wetness, turn into a gel-like substance and the break into little jelly pieces. And then! They stick to things.

So now I have an unusually full load of clothes that are covered in gel pieces. Really, I wasn't too mad, because I mean, who was I going to be mad at. I should've seen the pull-up, but Boo put it in the dirty clothes, but I was the only person to take them from the dirty clothes to the washer so really, I'm only to blame. I get all the clothes out of the dryer and shake them off which makes the little jelly pieces go all over my floor, and think "okay, I need to shake these off, it's going to be a huge mess, where do I do it?" I filled a basket with the clothes and stepped outside onto our carport and started the long process.

Until this time, Boo hadn't noticed me. But she has sonar hearing for the sound of the door and came running to investigate. With a confused look on her face she asks "what are you doing out there mom?"
Me: "I'm trying to clean these clothes."
Her: "well,... well,... your feet are going to get cold out there."
Me: "Yeah, I know. Thanks."
Her: "Mom, you should really shut the door, it's cold out there. I'm cold. Burr."
Me: "Well, go inside to the living room and stay warm."
Her: "Okay."

She visited me a couple more times while I took each piece of her clothes out and shook them off. I told her what I was shaking off and that she needed to be more careful, and be sure to put her pull-ups in the trash and not in her dirty clothes. To which, she agreed.

I had a lot of time to think while shaking. After about 15 minutes, it occurred to me, I didn't know if the pull-up was dry or wet when it went into the dirty clothes basket. So I was going to now have to wash the clothes again. Crap. Then, it occurred to me, I now have to clean out both the washer and dryer before I can do anything. I finished the clothes, which left my back and legs sore and went inside to see the damage left in the washer. For one pull-up, there was a lot of mess. I took wipes to it, to try and get as much of the mess out, and then tried to rinse the washer as best I could.

I have a handy husband. He gets it from his dad. He can fix just about anything. I love that about him. But, because of this fact, if I break something, he's less likely to want to fix it. And when it's something as big and expensive as the washer, he's even more mad. Sometimes, I think I broke something, when really I didn't and it's easy to fix, I worry he'll be mad, and he just laughs at my ignorance and fixes it. So, I can never tell if it's going to be a mad fix, or a laughing fix.

I didn't want to leave any gel pieces in the washer because I didn't know the damage they would do. So I searched the washer from top to bottom looking for stray pieces. The real problem was that the little gel pieces were clear and very hard to see. When I was convinced I'd gotten them all I re-rinsed the washer and then started the batch of clothes again. As I was just about to add the clothes, Boo runs in and says "Mom, I had an accident." Are you serious. Crap.
Me: "Where?!"
Her: "On the bathroom floor."
Me: "Why didn't you just go in the toilet!"
Her: "Cause I had an accident."

Of course, makes perfect sense.

Then she says she wants to help me put clothes in the washer. Are you kidding! No. "You are going to go clean up your accident." And who do you think ended up cleaning it up? It wasn't her, that's for sure!

Have you seen Blue Collar Comedy Tour? There's a part in it where Bill Engvall is talking about the difference between a newlywed couple and a couple that has been married for 20 years (in our case, just 6). Click here to watch it (Skip ahead to 3:45). Anyway, he says that when a newlywed husband comes home from work, his wife greets him with dinner and says "how was your day honey? Tell me all about it." and rubs his feet. But in a couple that's been married longer, the guy comes home from work and says "Phew! What a day at work!" to which the wife replies "YOU WANNA HEAR WHAT WENT ON AT THIS HOUSE TODAY!!... WHILE YOU WERE AT YOUR 'JOB'!!!" ...I have those days often.

Then to top it all off, Boo threw up at the table at dinner. And there goes my appetite.

So when Bo got home and asked "So, how was your day?" It was answered by "I washed a pull-up in the washer and your daughter peed on the floor. How was yours?".

One of the Many Questions of the Learning Parent

Hey fellow blogging parents: I want to know how you decide how to de-junk your kids toy boxes. We have TOO many toys but I'm such a pack-rat that I can't find it in myself to get rid of stuff. So, how do you decide just which toys go and which toys get to stay? Also, what do you do with the toys you get rid of? Just wondering... Any help would be greatly appreciated! ☺

Obsess Much?

I know I'm obsessive compulsive, but I added yet another play list at the bottom of the blog. It's Christmas! So I had to add my favorites of the Christmas music. None of my play lists are set to auto start, so if you wanna listen you have to start them yourself! Enjoy listening! ♪♫♪♫♫♪

Lineman's Rodeo

Recently Bo had a Lineman Rodeo that his work put on. I didn't get to go to it, I'm sure it wasn't really that exciting, Bo said I didn't miss much. It didn't mean anything job wise for him, but it lets his company know where they stand against some of the other co-op's. It was a good experience and he's looking forward to competing next year. He was also featured in the local paper with the article about the rodeo.

Baby Lee Update

I thought I'd give a quick baby update. I post way more things about the baby on my Pregnancy blog so if you want more info check there. We had our first ultrasound yesterday. It was fun to see the baby. Here is the best picture the ultrasound tech could get. You can see the spine at the top of the baby with the head on the right and the legs on the left.
My due date is officially set for May 26th and I will have another ultrasound in a month to determine the sex of the baby. So far so good, healthy baby and healthy mama!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow?

I posted a picture of my hair on my pregnancy blog to show how long it will grow while I'm pregnant (I don't cut my hair while I'm pregnant, just something fun to do, I guess). But I started thinking how much it's grown in the 5 or 6 months since I cut it. I think the average growth of hair is like a half inch a month or something like that, but I don't remember exactly how short I really cut it! Anyway, here's the comparison: Then & Now
*The funny thing about these pictures is that in both of them, I'm on the phone, even though you can't see it.
